Title: Transportation Coordinator
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent
Contract Days: 230 days (At-Will Contract)

Job Goal:
To provide a safe and efficient transportation department that meets the needs of the District's curricular and extracurricular programs

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Holds a Mississippi Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or has the ability to obtain a CDL.
3. Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local bus driver certification, training, and reporting requirements.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Board of Trustees
5. Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in writing and verbally with the employees, administrators, students, parents, and all other stakeholders.

Performance Responsibilities:
• Serve as the liaison between Madison County Schools (MCS) and Durham School Services (Student Transportation Provider)
• Assist in the preparation and management of contract documents and recordkeeping
• Coordinate and assist with MCS bus driver training and safety programs
• Coordinate and oversee MCS bus driver drug and alcohol testing program
• Communicate effectively and professionally on a daily basis with Durham, administrators, parents, students, and community members regarding student transportation needs and/or concerns
• Meet regularly with assigned supervisor to provide information on student transportation operations
• Coordinate and assist administrators in utilizing the Zonar bus tracking system
• Supervise the retrieval and delivery of bus surveillance videos
• Coordinate and oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all bus surveillance cameras
• Supervise the circulation and collection of Fuelman cards and ID numbers
• Review and approve applicable weekly/monthly billing statements
• Collect and review weekly transportation surveys submitted by administrators
• Make daily visits to school's to monitor buses loading and unloading students
• Coordinate and assist with the scheduling of all summer activity routes (SPED, summer athletic activities, etc.)
• Drive a MCS extracurricular/activity bus as needed
• Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development; for keeping current with the literature, new research and findings, and best practices; and for attending appropriate professional meetings
• Stays current with the latest state and federal guidelines regulations related to the transportation of students and staff; conforms to all state laws and regulations regarding the transportation of students and staff
• Maintains safety and standards in compliance with the state and insurance regulations and develops a program of risk management/preventive safey
• Advises the Superintendent on road hazards for decisions regarding school closings during inclement weather
• Develops and oversees a safe, effective, and cost efficient transportation program to meet all requirements of the daily instructional program, extracurricular activities, and field trips; assist with bus routes and bus schedules for all schools in the district
• Trains and supports the bus drivers in maintaining appropriate student behavior on school buses
• Works with school administrators in managing student bus discipline issues
• Prepares and submits the transportation department's budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds
• Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports, records list, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the transportation department's administration as required by the district and state or federal agencies
• Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and care of all district-owned buses and plans for preventive maintenance
• Follows all Board policies and procedures
• Maintain regular attendance and is punctual
• Promotes the district's vision, mission, and goals
• Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics
• Performs other task and assumes other responsibilities as requested/assigned by the immediate supervisor and Superintendent
