Position at IDEA Public Schools
IDEA Foreign Language (Spanish) teachers may instruct students in grades 8-12 in Spanish language and literature. Students take Spanish I in 8th grade, Spanish II in 9th grade and Spanish III in 10th grade. Most IDEA students take AP Spanish Language in 11th grade and AP Spanish Literature in 12th grade. Course-preps per teacher vary by campus. Most IDEA campuses have 2-3 Foreign Language teachers once fully scaled to Grades 6-12. All IDEA Foreign Language teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while also embodying IDEA's values daily. IDEA Foreign Language teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and diligently track student data to inform dynamic and effective daily lesson plans. IDEA Foreign Language teachers seek feedback and continue to develop their teaching practice to better serve IDEA students. We strive to accomplish goal in two ways: by giving students the chance to experience rigorous and challenging material in high school and by giving them the opportunity to gain college-credit through dual-enrollment, AP, or IB courses.

A Typical Day at IDEA:
IDEA teachers are on duty for the extended school day of 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, however IDEA teachers typically arrive at 7:00 am and leave at 5:00 pm according to their duty, tutoring, and meeting schedules. Though they face demanding schedules, all IDEA teachers are strongly supported by dedicated leadership and staff.

Responsibilities:
- Instill a passion and appreciation for foreign languages and diverse cultures in students
- Implement IDEA Foreign Language curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations
- Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback from manager
- Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly
- Communicate students' progress with student and family on a weekly basis
- Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom
- Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
- Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students' needs
- Participate in weekly professional development, grade-level meetings and activities, and school wide meetings and functions
- Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our scholars.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
- High level of Spanish language proficiency as evidenced by Content Assessment during final interview
- Experience teaching underserved or English-language learners
- Proficiency in English language required
- Belief in and alignment with IDEA's mission and values is non- negotiable
