High School STEM Teacher: The Charter School for Applied Technologies is seeking High School STEM Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Education and be certified in preferably in Science, Technology Education, Mathematics or Career and Technical Education (CTE). Interest in teaching Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering courses and/or CAD (Computer Aided Design) is desirable. Knowledge of Windows 10 Computers and Microsoft applications helpful. Experience teaching in an urban school is preferred. CSAT offers a very competitive salary and is a member of the NYS Teachers Retirement System.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a bachelor's degree and hold or be eligible for a New York State education certificate Science, Technology Education, Mathematics or Career and Technical Education.
* Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
* Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents and staff.
* Understand the engineering design process, engineering concepts, and the ability to follow curriculum in technology and engineering.
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Problem-Solving Skills: Engineers work to develop new solutions to problems. You will need the skills to identify the source of the problem, develop, and test solutions.
* Math Skills: You must understand mathematical processes, mathematical analysis, and other mathematics necessary for design, production/construction, and troubleshooting.
* Mechanical Skills: The ability to understand mechanical concepts and processes easily, as well as safely use equipment and tools as necessary.
* Must be available to attend a multi-week training to become certified to teach Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses.
Full Time- 40 hours/week/Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; this position will be open until filled
