Secondary English Language Teachers - Brunei - January 2020

Edvectus is recruiting Secondary teachers to help raise the level of English language competency amongst secondary students in government schools as part of an exciting and important Brunei Educational Reform project. In addition to a unique and rewarding teaching experience this opportunity also offers various courses and programmes to teachers such as personal enrichment and leadership courses, language and computer classes and teacher development courses such as the Cambridge In-Service Certificate in English Language Teaching (ICELT) and also the English as a Second Language in the Mainstream course.

SECONDARY TEACHERS NEEDED for January 2020
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Have a degree and teaching qualification from a University in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand or the UK and to have completed basic and tertiary education in one of these countries
/ Have qualified teacher status in the form of a B Ed/Dip Ed/Dip Teaching/PGCE preferably for Secondary aged students
/ A minimum of three years relevant classroom-teaching experience after qualifying as a teacher. This should include students aged 11-18 years for Secondary teachers. Secondary teachers also need to have one year"s EFL/ESL experience in mainstream schools, and ideally have an EFL/ESL qualification.
/ Applicants must also have at least one year FULL TIME relevant classroom- teaching experience immediately prior coming to Brunei. Exceptions will be made for teachers completing full time study or those on maternity. Teachers on sabbatical/extended leave should not be out of the classroom for more than 6 months
/ Secondary teachers must be 54 years of age exactly or under at start of initial contract (Brunei Government regulation)
/ Teachers must be Native English Speakers and must hold a passport from one of the countries mentioned above / All teachers must have a current driving licence and must be willing to drive in Brunei or be able to rely upon someone in their household who can drive (public transport is not reliable and due to the climate there is not a walking or cycling culture)

Brunei, officially the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace, is a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in South-east Asia. Apart from its coastline with the South China Sea it is completely surrounded by the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, and it is separated into two parts by Limbang, which is part of Sarawak. The majority of Bruneians are ethnic Malays following a blend of local Malay cultural attitudes and Islamic values and traditions.
