The following outlines expectations of all Site-Based Mentor Coordinators with the Kansas City Public Schools district. Please read and sign below.

Stipend Tiers

*per semester

Tier 1 - $500

· Attend monthly meetings as scheduled (not missing more than 2)*

· Enter permission slip data weekly based on recruitment efforts*

· Attend and support ISP in yearly kickoff, appreciation breakfast and other events*

· Retain a total of 10-59 matches (including 10 internal mentors)

Tier 2 - $750

· Retain a total of 60-99 matches (including 15 building mentors)

Tier 3 - $1,000

· Retain a total of 100+ matches (including 20 building mentors)

*Items are baseline minimum for each Tier

Program Expectations

Mentor Coordinators based out of the school will be responsible for the following:

Recruit: Make presentations to students and prospective internal mentors regarding the mentoring program and the need for volunteers; Hand out permission slips based on students identified in the weekly attendance meeting and receive returned permission slips and enter data in the software.

Onboarding Mentors: Train mentors to fully prepare them for their mentoring matches with at-risk youth; Introduce the mentor and child and set healthy boundaries for the match. Train school personnel as needed.

Select Match: Choose the best possible match between internal mentor and child.

Support Match: Maintain regular and consistent contact with each volunteer. Provide encouragement, and counsel to the mentors.

Guide Match: Provide guidance and a smooth transition for mentoring matches during difficult periods, such as crisis situations or closing.

Serve Family: Function as a liaison between the parent and mentor as needed.

Monitor Match: Utilize the personalized sign-in sheets and mentor/mentee match list to check the mentor's attendance and ensure they are visiting with their mentee each week.

Events: Plan and participate in student and family events hosted by Innovation and Special Projects.

Work cooperatively with other mentoring agencies and the community-at-large.

Must accept and commit to serve as a Site-Based Mentor Coordinator and will:

Support the Kansas City Public Schools Mentoring program guidelines

Consistently share progress or any concerns with my Principal and the District Coordinator of Mentoring Services

Attend monthly coordinator meetings
