Lake Forest Community High School District 115 is seeking a Technical Theater Director.

Description: The Technical Theater Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating all school-based programs and events that require the use of LFHS Theaters. This includes the use of Theaters for school-based courses, extracurricular activities and other performances and events throughout the school.

Essential Duties:
  • Hires, trains, and supervises student workers and seasonal theater staffCoordinates and collaborates with performance, event and theater advisorsMaintains schedule for all theater spaces at Lake Forest High SchoolOversees setups for all activities, presentations, concerts and events in the theatersCreates and oversees safety protocols for theaters and related support areasOversees and assists in the maintenance of the theatersSupports approved events in the building that utilize LFHS theaters (i.e. graduation, parent/student meetings, LFHS Talent Show, concerts, ceremonies)Supports and assists the Theater Department faculty and staff with aspects of course curriculum that require the use of the theaters, tech, set, sound and lighting as neededManages the budget for all theater activities with the Student Activities Director/PrincipalAssists the assigned administrator with selecting advisors/directors and other affiliated roles (i.e. choreographer, costumer) for theater productions throughout the yearAssists with the creation of a yearly calendar for LFHS Theater useCoordinates with faculty directors for any current or future stage productionsCoordinates with advisors for all theater related groupsOversees the technical direction of the plays and musicalsCoordinates the design and construction of theater setsGathers information from directors and creates a program for every play and musicalRecruits, supervises, trains, and develops students involved in Tech CrewResolves issues forwarded by students, parents, or directors/advisors regarding decisions made in relation to theater activitiesCoordinates with parent groups to help support theater productions at LFHSCoordinates with parent groups as related to other activities in the theater spaces at LFHSOversees the extra-curricular theater productions' communication through publications and web pageDemonstrates ethical and professional behaviorAdopts values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire others to higher levels of performanceMaintains a supportive relationship with all teachers and staffAdapts leadership behavior to the needs of the current situationIs respectful and open to divergent opinionsDemonstrates an understanding and is sensitive to the diverse needs of the school communityPerforms other job related duties as assigned by their direct supervisor

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related fieldMaster's degree in Theater or related area(s) - preferredEducator License with Stipulations - ELS (PARA)Experience with set design and constructionWorking knowledge of lighting, audio/sound, technology and rigging systemsEffective and efficient communicator, planner, and organizer
