Lake Forest Community High School is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director.

Description: The Assistant Athletic Director is a member of the leadership team who assists the Athletic Director with supervising and evaluating Lake Forest High School interscholastic and intramural athletic programs. The Assistant Athletic Director provides managerial oversight for the department. The Assistant Athletic Director supervises and evaluates as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Essential Duties:

FACILITATING THE DISTRICT'S VISION
  • Assists with recruiting, interviewing, and recommending candidates for coaching positionsSupervises and evaluates the LFHS coaching staff and athletic programsHires workers for athletic contests and performancesAssists with oversight of summer coaching camps (set dates & fees, coordinate facilities, prepare information for publications)Participates on the Leadership TeamAttends weekly Facilities Meetings

FACILITATING SCHOOL CULTURE
  • Coordinates and facilitates the intramural programAdministers the LFHS Athletic Code of ConductAssists with the supervision of home and away athletic contestsOrganizes and facilitates coaches' meetingsAssists with athletic awards for honors nightAssists with the coordination of banquets and awards for end of season team recognitions

MANAGEMENT
  • Organizes, prepares and arranges for LFHS, North Suburban Conference, Lake County, and IHSA tournamentsAssists with the preparation of the athletic budgetCoordinates athletic contestsContracts officials for all athletic eventsOversees the scheduling of athletic transportation for travelMonitors the payment and collection of tournament entry feesCoordinates the scheduling of athletic facilities at East & West CampusCoordinates the scheduling of pictures for fall and winter programsTracks and inventories athletic equipmentSupervises the preparation and maintenance of facilities for athletic useIssues repair ordersAttends weekly Operations meetingsEnforces compliance with health and safety codes and standardsAssists in identifying and using community resources for the athletic programsAssists in the decision-making of facilities using pending weather, current field condition, etc.

COLLABORATION WITH FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES
  • Represents LFHS at North Suburban Conference, Lake County, Illinois Athletic Director and IHSA meetingsEstablishes and communicates expectations for athletes, parents, and coachesManages the student eligibility process (weekly checks, transfer students)Schedules and reschedules athletic contestsOversees Community Education Programs related to athletics (coaches, budgets, facilities & fees)Serves as the Lake Forest High School liaison with the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Recreation departmentsAssists with coordinating the rental of athletic facilities

ACTING WITH INTEGRITY, FAIRNESS AND IN AN ETHICAL MANNER
  • Assists the Athletic Director with planning professional development and growth experiences for coaches and Athletic Department staff that aligns with the core values, beliefs, and expectations of LFHSEnsures active and engaged participation at the NSC Leadership Conference annually

OPERATING WITHIN POLITICAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, LEGAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT
  • Prepares and implements remediation plans as required by state law and the Lake Forest High School evaluation plan for any staff members who are rated unsatisfactory; work with the Human Resource Department in any dismissal case involving department membersParticipates in the formulation of school district policy and proceduresDevelops and monitors a departmental budget with the Superintendent's designee through established district proceduresOperates within school policies and implements regulations developed by the districtOversees and coordinates all IHSA transfer athlete paperwork and other related rulings in compliance with the IHSA bylaws and constitution

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor DegreeIllinois Professional Educator License (PEL), with a General Administrative endorsement or Teacher Leader endorsement - preferred, not requiredExperience:
    • as a head coach or an assistant coach of a high school/collegiate athletic programas an athletic administrator or supervisor - preferredwith supervision, scheduling, and management
