SUMMARY:
The job of Office Manager at the Elementary School is done for the purpose of providing administrative and secretarial support to assigned school site administrator. The office manager monitors assigned activities, provides general clerical support and provides information, recommendations and/or direction as requested by assigned administrator.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. The plan's promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. The strategic plan is centered on Our Promise. It includes five big goals for Highline students, supported by Our Foundation. * Equity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Administers first aid and prescription medications to students (under the direction of a health care professional) for the purpose of providing emergency and necessary care in compliance with established guidelines. * Compiles data from a variety of sources (e.g. enrollment, work orders, budget reports, specialized reports, personnel records, etc.) for the purpose of complying with financial, legal and/or administrative requirements. * Coordinates a variety of projects, functions and/or program components (e.g. meetings, in-service events, travel and accommodations, etc.) for the purpose of completing activities and/or delivering services in a timely fashion. * Coordinates, monitors, and reviews the work of assigned clerical personnel for the purpose of ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the front office. * Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. budget data, employee records, current enrollment data, student information, student attendance records, financial records, reports, substitute information, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements. * Monitors students referred for illness or disciplinary action for the purpose of ensuring student safety and welfare and to maintain a secure office environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
OFFICE MANAGER, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL * Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or trainings (e.g. office manager meetings, staff meetings, leadership team, etc.) for the purpose of providing or receiving information, recording minutes, and supporting the needs of the attendees. * Prepares a variety of documents (e.g. correspondence, discipline letters, forms and mailings related to enrollment, agendas, minutes, event programs, bulletins, payroll reports, community volunteer forms, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information and/or creating documentation in compliance with established guidelines. * Presents information on administrative procedures (e.g. department/program policies, submission procedures, etc.) for the purpose of orienting new personnel and/or disseminating information to existing personnel. * Represents assigned Administrator in his/her absence for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required for his/her job functions. * Researches a variety of topics (e.g. current practices, policies, education codes, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations and/or addressing a variety of administrative requirements. * Responds to a variety of inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, central office, etc.) for the purpose of providing information or direction and/or facilitating communication among parties. * Supports assigned administrative personnel for the purpose of providing assistance with their functions and responsibilities. Other Functions * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent Five years of increasingly responsible work experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a K-12 public school district or public agency strongly preferred

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance First Aid and CPR certification and maintain valid certification
