Job Summary
Implements school-wide reform efforts, to ensure high quality instruction and assessment practices are applied across all levels. Provides the tools for a deeper understanding of each student's needs, alignment of resources and support necessary for each student's academic and social-emotional success. This role maintains communication within the school and connects the team to necessary resources for successful implementation of instructional reform.
Essential Functions
  • Leads teams in implementing school-wide universal screening systems and use data to guide core instruction, as well as to help identify students at-risk.
  • Assists teachers and school teams in implementing evidence-based instructional interventions and progress monitoring tools matched to student need.
  • Serves as a key point of contact as it pertains to supporting teaching and achievement using current educational research, the District's core curriculum, and professional publications.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of all school programs and aligns them to support the school's focus on teaching and school-wide reform improvement efforts.
  • Works with administrators to ensure instructional reform processes, protocols, timelines, and implementation plans are executed with fidelity and meet the needs of students.
  • Consults with teachers and other school staff to boost understanding and interpretation of progress data to determine if students are making adequate progress and whether intervention changes are needed.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data using assessment information to make recommendations to adjust and improve instruction.
  • Coordinates in-depth learning experiences aligned with school-wide instructional reform efforts; provides job embedded professional development for teachers.
  • Facilitates the engagement of stakeholders in school-wide instructional reform effort.
  • Maintains a consistent focus on teaching and learning to standards in all content areas.
  • Provides direct assistance through lesson demonstration, observation, constructive feedback and coaching; identifies systems for ongoing teacher support.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional experience as a teacher, two of which have included implementing instructional reform in an urban setting and working with evidence-based instructional interventions.
OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven years of full-time, paid, professional experience as a teacher, two of which have included implementing instructional reform in an urban setting; working with evidence-based instructional interventions.
  • All work experience related to the position must be included on the resume.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • curriculum and instructional initiatives.
  • assessment systems to improve instructional reform decision making.
  • behavioral and classroom management strategies.
  • national standards, the current trends, developments, practices, objectives and theories of staff development.
  • adult educational methodologies.
  • effective use of technology in the delivery of staff development programs
Demonstrated ability to:
  • plan, develop, and conduct staff development.
  • collect data and give feedback on curriculum and instructional reform strategies.
  • assess staff development needs.
  • review, select and adapt course materials for a variety of staff development sessions.
  • use a personal computer.
  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Salary: From: 46694.00

Additional Job Information: This is a 10-month, PFT-represented position. The salary grade for this role is 0201-0301, and salary is determined by your years of service in the PFT-union.
