This TOSA position will serve as Barton's Integraton Specialist.

SUMMARY
An Integration Specialist will be responsible for working with teachers in developing, standards based interdisciplinary thematic units of study. The Integrated Specialist will also be responsible for facilitating
weekly team meetings in not only the development of the interdisciplinary thematic units of study, but also in the unit implementation and reflection at the end of each unit. This planning, development and
production of curriculum materials, processes and best practices are evaluated to ensure high student engagement and effectiveness.

Having rich,interdisciplinary, thematic units of study aligns with our open, progressive values in melding teaching to the whole child while simultaneously and explicitly teaching specific skills needed in their
learning journey. The Integration Specialist will help create a framework in which the units of study will be built.

An integrated unit of study will include and are not limited to:
• Authentic and Formative assessments
• Authentic and Summative assessments
• Projects based learning projects
• Embedded literacy, science and/or social studies standards

Primary Responsibilities:
• Co-develop and evaluate interdisciplinary units of study.
• Lead teams of teachers who will assist/collaborate in curriculum writing.
• Document all unit writing progress.
• Research and gather resources for team collaboration on each unit.
• Instructional Leadership Team member to share the unit writing progress.
• Assist in analyzing various data points in identifying curriculum needs.
• Vertically align literacy standards K-8.
• Provide instructional materials for printing and necessary materials to direct instruction.
• Actively pursue opportunities to continue to learn best practices in curriculum writing through
research, professional development, and other learning opportunities.
• Identify guest speakers and other resources to enrich units of study.
• Provide needed professional development to support teacher curriculum and instructional
practices.
• Any additional needed support identified by administration

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Minnesota Teaching License - Elementary
  • Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective
  • Prior successful experience teaching in urban, multicultural education setting
  • Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development
  • Master's preferred
