Director of Whole School (US Curriculum) - Dubai - July 2019

This American curriculum school located in Dubai is preparing for its second year of operation. The school"s trustees envision a learning community that embraces a future-oriented learning community that develops an innovative approach to learning in a 21st century environment. An experienced US curriculum whole school Director/ Principal is needed to make this vision into a reality.

The school offers an American education experience eventually leading to a High School Diploma for international and Emirati students. The school curriculum is designed to align to the New York State Learning Standards which includes the New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards. The school will initially cater for over 500 students from KG to Grade 6.

Director of whole school (Elementary /Middle/High)


• 25,000 AED/month plus...

• Mobile phone allowance (300 AED per month).

• Accommodation allowance (71,500 AED per annum) paid in lump sum within first week (once a UAE bank account is open for individual).

• One time settling and moving allowance (2,000 AED) paid in lump sum within first week (once a UAE bank account is open for individual).

• Joining flights from home of record [Economy class] for self (if individual is residing outside UAE).

• Departure flights to home of record [Economy class] upon completion of contract for self and spouse

• Annual flights from to home of record [Economy class] for self-taken once during a period of annual leave.

• Medical insurance for use within UAE for self and spouse.

• Tuition waiver for up to 2 eligible dependent children*

• Visa processing costs (excluding document certification).

• 2 year employment contract with automatic renewal.

• Final End of Service Settlement calculated in accordance with UAE Labor Law.

• 45 calendar days annual leave per 12 month period (taken during school leave periods).

*Note: the school currently serves KG-Grade 6. Dependant children who will accompany the Director must be of this age range to be eligible for the tuition waiver.

Qualifications and experience requirements for the Director

- Candidates must currently be employed in a US accredited school offering the Common Core State Standards.
- The candidate will be US citizens and mother-tongue English speaker.
- Candidates must hold valid US teacher certification and/or School Leader (SBL) certification
- Experience of leading *both* Elementary and High Schools as a Principal or Vice Principal
- An advanced (post-graduate) university degree/diploma/qualification in educational matters (or the equivalent thereof), or evidence he/she is working towards obtaining such a degree from a recognised institution.
