BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
To provide Tier II and III instruction to students to assist in the development of skills needed to be successful in elementary grades and be properly prepared for secondary education.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Planning and preparation for Tier II and III instructional/social-emotional interventions based upon students' needs through:
- Demonstration of knowledge of pedagogy, content, and students
- Select specific instructional goals
- Demonstrate knowledge of varied resources in literacy, math and social-emotional areas
- Assess student learning using various measures
- Participate in building level MTSS meetings and functions
- Create a setting of respect and rapport
- Establish and maintain a culture for learning
- Implement and maintain Safe and Civil School/CHAMPS classroom procedures
- Establish expectations for and manage student behaviors
- Organize space for learning
- Administer related academic and behavioral screeners and assessments to determine individual student needs
- Communicate clearly and accurately
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and techniques
- Engage students in learning
- Provide timely feedback to students and staff
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to student needs.
- Follow contractual responsibilities
- Engage in reflective practice
- Maintain accurate records
- Communicate with families and staff
- Engage in professional development activities
- Maintain appropriate licensure
- Work with struggling learners utilizing a wide variety of academic and behavioral strategies.
- Analyze data to design strategies for individual student improvement.
- Assist counselors, teachers and administrators in the placement of students into tiered interventions.
- Provide tiered interventions during the building MTSS time.
- Work collaboratively with teachers in instructional and behavioral areas.
- Participate in building and district curriculum meetings / committees.
- Keep up to date with the latest research in academic and behavioral curriculum and research.
- Attend professional development appropriate for personal growth.
- Uphold and enforce Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules, and federal and state regulations including, but not limited to the Local Consolidated Plan for Federal Programs:
Sexual and racial harassment
Child abuse reporting
- All other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: Determined by the employee's placement on the teacher salary schedule.
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
