POSITION SUMMARY
A Nutrition Coordinator assists the Child Nutrition Director in planning, organizing and supervising the child nutrition program, coordinating the nutrition education program for the school district. Responsibilities include menu planning, personnel supervision and organizing a program of nutrition education.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Visit and supervise personnel work in school cafeterias daily, including but not limited to the following areas: computer collection procedures and reports, menu offerings, steam table arrangements, portion control, proper utensils, hot/cold items, food preparation/recipes, menu directions, procedure manuals, leftover items, production efficiency, sanitation, refrigerator/freezer/storeroom organization, equipment utilization, cleanliness of dining room, ordering/inventory control, labor allocations, waste management, uniform restrictions, kitchen preparation/organization and serving.
Prepare 5-week menu cycles for breakfast, lunch, and snack.
Manage medical statements for meal modifications.
Maintain child nutrition labels, manufacturer's formulation statements and nutrition fact labels on all foods served.
Check recipes to ensure fulfillment of nutrient content requirements, adjusting when necessary.
Suggest new items, develop recipes and monitor trial items in cafeterias.
Develop specifications for food and equipment bids.
Assist with in-service training of managers and staff.
Manage child nutrition computer software programs.
Monitor accuracy of production records.
Communicate with Child Nutrition Managers related to all personnel duties, responsibilities, concerns, and problems.
Assist Child Nutrition Director in managers meetings.
Assist with the ordering and management of commodities.
Organize and plan National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Week, coordinating activities for this event.
Organize special events to promote student participation in the breakfast and lunch programs.
Organize and coordinate food orders for the Nutrition Education Program.
Assist in approving, updating, filing and verifying free and reduced lunch applications.
Assist in employee evaluations.
Assist in commodity, administrative and on-site reviews.
Assist with a monthly claim for reimbursement.
Serve as an active member of the District Wellness Committee.
Assist in reviewing operating practices and procedures to determine whether improvements can be made in areas such as workflow, reporting procedures, or expenditures.
Any other duties assigned by the Director.

Other Requirements
Ability to leave the office setting to travel to locations around the city to assist Child Nutrition staff with computer operations and other associated technologies.
