Please note that this position is based out of our New Bedford, MA location. 

The Special Education Team Coordinator provides support and guidance to the Special Educations students at CoaH New Bedford as well as the Special Education staff. This role will routinely interact with City on a Hill students, families, champions, faculty and staff at all levels.  The incumbent will manage several key areas of responsibility and will assist in setting the future direction of the organization.

The Special Education Team Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Oversee IEP and 504 related plans and services for your assigned school, including compliance with all laws and required timelines as well as being responsible for ensuring all plans are implemented with fidelity
  • Identify and contract with services for testing, speech and  language, OT/PT, and transportation for students whose IEP mandates it   
  • Act as a resource for special education at your schools  
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and evaluating all special  education and related services provider staff
  • Collaborate with Principal and/or his/her designee to create  schedules and make changes to staff as needed to support implementation of IEPs  and 504 plans
  • Facilitate all IEP and 504 meetings and ensure compliance with all  applicable laws and regulations at those meetings  
  • In conjunction with the Principal and/or his/her designee, assign  and support Case Managers
  • Ensure your schools' Parent Advisory Councils are established and  fully functioning and effective bodies
  • Monitor data collection for Progress Reports, quality of Progress
  • Reports, and completions of Progress Reports at your school     
  • As needed, provide training to special education staff on all  aspects of case management and all staff training on instructional practices at  your school
  • Implement transition planning and ensure all laws, regulations,  and best practices around transition planning are followed at your school
  • Additional duties, as assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal

Required Qualifications
  • Belief that every student, regardless of background, can and must achieve academically at high levels
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preliminary MA teaching certification or is working toward earning MA certification.
  • Experience preferred, particularly in an urban setting
  • SEI or RETELL endorsement
