Position Summary:

Mastery Charter Schools seeks a part-time Program Manager to work with the Assistant Director of College Placement in being directly responsible for student participation in the "Mastery at CCP" full-time dual enrollment program. The Manager will participate in all aspects of the program including admissions and recruitment, program oversight and operations, student support and academic advising, monitoring of students' academic progress, and ensuring post-secondary planning and enrollment decisions for participants. S/he will work directly with students and their parents throughout the year and will communicate with the sending campus' Leadership Teams about student academic progress. The Program Manager will be responsible for facilitating a blended CCP College 101/Mastery Senior Seminar course, and for managing the Senior Project program from launch to completion. S/he will help execute an Orientation program for the incoming cohort to include college and academic preparatory workshops, team-building and orientation activities. The Program Manager will participate in course registration for students each semester and provide academic assistance throughout the year. The Program Manager will also serve as a college advisor, review college and scholarship applications and essays, help facilitate college visits and interviews, provide financial aid guidance and resources to students' families, and help students transition to college life. The Program Manager will work to develop partnerships with the CCP staff to strengthen the program on site and to build relationships with other college admissions professionals and scholarship providers to drive Mastery students' success post-graduation. The staff member will work according to the CCP academic calendar during the fall, spring and summer semesters and teach year-long senior seminar course including all preparation, teaching, and grading. This position reports to the Senior Director of Postsecondary Strategy; however, the position will be housed at CCP.

Duties and Responsibilities:

For Enrolled Students - CCP Specific Roles

Assist with the recruitment and registration of 30-50 Mastery students to CCP each year; execute orientation program

Maintain 95% or higher student enrollment throughout the year; meet demanding metrics for student pass-rates in college courses

Communicate with CCP faculty and staff and create support plans for struggling students; communicate with Mastery campus leadership teams about student academic progress

Conduct weekly 1-1 meetings with a group of students to review academic progress and plans for post-graduation

Coordinate with 4-year college and university admission staff regarding transferability of CCP credit

Help plan and execute programming during 2 semester ‘break' weeks: December after fall final exams and in May after spring final exams and before the Summer 1 term.

College Application Process for Enrolled Students

Set and meet aggressive college admissions goals for CCP dual enrollment students

Manage entire college, financial aid and scholarship application processes, and Senior Project completion

Manage all paperwork in the college admissions process (i.e., transcript mailing and writing recommendations)

Oversee ACT test-taking for enrolled students.

Educate and counsel parents in the college admission and financial aid process

Set and meet aggressive student participation in college fair programs, admission and financial aid workshops and related programs.

Communicate with sending campus College Advisors about student progress toward postsecondary goals and participation in senior year activities (prom, graduation, etc.)

Develop productive relationships and partnerships with colleges/universities, scholarship programs and other higher-education professionals. Attend professional development conferences as needed.

Update database on student progress in meeting their individual application, aid/scholarship, admittance, graduation and enrollment goals.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated performance to surpass aggressive and measurable goals in urban schools.

Strong understanding of college admission process, financial aid, scholarships and grants, and college admissions testing.

Track record managing student data

Sharp organizational skills to document students' progress to reach aggressive college admission goals.

Knowledge of public education and charter schools highly desirable but not required.

Maintains high expectations for students and self.

Strong leadership, personal initiative and problem-solving skills.

Exemplary interpersonal communication skills utilized to build and maintain relationships with students, parents, CCP professors and staff, and Mastery school leadership.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with five years urban education experience is desired.

Experience in college counseling at the secondary level and/or postsecondary experience in advising or admissions

Key Competencies:

A deep personal belief in college access for all students and a willingness to do whatever it takes to make college a viable reality for all Mastery students.

Ability to relate to and communicate with underserved minority, first generation college students and their families about the college experience and admissions process.

Ability to work well in a team and to communicate effectively with students, parents, college faculty and administrators, and four-year college and university personnel.

A relentless drive to provide the highest quality education for all students.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as traveling to network campuses and maneuvering in office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; Must be able to sit for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard and mouse and typing. Ability to travel regularly to field offices within the Philadelphia area several times a week.

Other Requirements:

Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel when necessary.
