SPECIAL EDUCATION SUMMER SCHOOL 2019
DATES - JULY 1, 2019 - AUGUST 1, 2019 (5 WEEK PROGRAM);
STAFF PRE-OPENING DAY, THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2019.
The staff day is five hours - 8:00am to 1:00pm; Monday thru Thursday (Week of July 1st, days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
SCOPE
The Speech & Language Pathologist is responsible for the intellectual, social and effective development of students.
The Speech & Language Pathologist is jointly responsible to their Coordinator, Director and Principal of the building(s) to which they are assigned. They are supervised and evaluated by their Coordinator in consultation with the Principal and Director of their assigned school(s).
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES
To be considered, all candidates must possess current Teacher Certification from the Connecticut State Department of Education, applicable to the available position. Candidates will be selected based upon educational background, qualifications, relevant experience, experience specific to the particular school/location or the program to which you are applying, and all other job- related factors.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the development and implementation of a relevant educational prescription (IEP) for each individual student for whom speech and/or language disorders may contribute significantly to his/her educational needs.
- Complies with all professional, local, state and federal regulations as well as Board policies, procedures, protocols and regulations.
- Assesses identified and referred students with possible communication disorders in the areas of articulation, voice, language, fluency, and/or hearing.
- Utilizes a variety of service delivery models which may include, but are not limited to, reassessment/tracking and consultation or direct services involving both pull-out and classroom intervention.
- Consults regularly with parents and classroom teachers regarding student progress and program(s).
