PURPOSE OF JOB:
To coordinate all community, career and technical education programs to the extent that each one meets the needs and expectations of students, teachers, administration, and community while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory mandates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the CTE director to coordinate program evaluations and design program improvement plans to target specific areas of need
Work with the CTE director to develop program recommendations to meet the needs of the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) and community
When appropriate, serve as liaison between KCPS and business/industrial/service communities
Work with guidance and counseling staff to administer assessments and ensure articulation of basic elementary, middle, secondary, and post-secondary program standards and objectives
Whenever possible, use public and private agencies in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs
Use appropriate and positive interpersonal management skills and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment
Work with elementary, middle, and secondary schools to coordinate all STEM efforts within and outside of KCPS, including but not limited to, Project Lead the Way
Work with CTE director to coordinate the Innovation and Technology Center
Work with elementary, middle, and secondary schools to facilitate recruitment and outreach events
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree or higher in a related field from an accredited institution
Hold a valid Missouri CTE teaching certificate and/or hold or be eligible for a MO CTE director's certificate
Experience in Education Administration and/or Supervision
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the high school level preferably in a career technical education discipline
Knowledge of current trends in Career and Technical Education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (oral and written), and leadership skills
Time management skills, ability to prioritize
Strong focus on academics, knowledge of curriculum and teaching strategies, knowledge of state and local mandates, passionate and enthusiastic about CTE
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 of force as frequently as needed to move objects. This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, and stoop.
