A passionate High School Counselor (Dual Enrollment) is needed at the K12 partner school, Georgia Cyber Academy. We want you to be a part of our talented team!

The mission of GCA is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships coupled with a rigorous curriculum along with a data-driven and student-centered instructional model. Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the school counselor promotes student success, provides preventive services, and responds to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that that focuses on academic success, personal and social development and career and college counseling for all students. Services are provided through counseling curriculum, individual planning, responsive services and support services. Services may be delivered through individual and group activities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
AS a High School Counselor (Dual Enrollment), YOU WILL ...
  • Analyze student data and develop data driven programs for intervention action plans.
  • Provide responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues.
  • Deliver individual and group counseling curriculum, supporting student development;
  • Provide an individual planning system to guide students toward postsecondary goals.
  • Assist students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities and benefits.
  • Provide system support to strengthen the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Support standardized testing program; parent education; staff development.
  • Provide information, advisement, scheduling and processing of funding for Dual Enrollment Participants
  • Manage a case load of Dual Enrollment Participants
  • Present on Dual Enrollment in District and Department Events
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning.
Requirements
Minimum required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree of Education in School Counseling
  • Georgia Educator Certificate in School Counseling P-12
  • Experience in counseling and/or advisement
  • Valid fingerprint clearance card or background check
  • Proficient in MS tools, search engines, database systems
  • Flexible schedule - ability to travel as needed

Certificates and Licenses: Georgia Educator Certificate in School Counseling P-12
OTHER REQUIRED qualifications
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check

  • Experience with Dual Enrollment within the State of Georgia
  • Experience with distance learning
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Experience with Local, State , and Federals laws and mandated reporting
  • Experience in a charter school environment
  • An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)
  • An ability to support and guide adults as well as students
