Job Details

School Description

Dearborn STEM Academy is a Boston Public School and BPE Teaching Academy serving grades 6-12. We are committed to preparing students to successfully enter the 21st century global workforce. The school bridges rigorous academics with career readiness, and leverages Boston's unique position in higher education and industry to provide students with access to authentic real-world experiences, while cultivating critical thinking and communications skills. As a central part of that effort, the school is creating three career pathways, in Computer Science, Health and Life Sciences and Engineering. Dearborn is a part of a PreK-12 neighborhood school pathway that includes the Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School (PreK-5). Our schools serve as training sites for aspiring teachers participating in the Boston Teacher Residency. All staff work collaboratively to enact ambitious teaching and learning in service of student achievement goals.

Mindset
  • You are laser-focused on using data to drive improved student outcomes. You will lead our efforts to analyze and use school-level data to personalize instruction, and to inform the practices of our teachers and residents.
  • You live and breathe curriculum, instruction and assessment. You have extensive experience developing and implementing curriculum and assessments that articulate across the 6-12 grade range. You know what great instruction looks like, and what works and what doesn't, but you are also willing to be flexible and implement new approaches where appropriate for a given school or community.
  • You believe that schools are places where both adults and students are - and should be - learning and improving constantly. You believe in meeting kids where they are as learners, yet still holding them to high standards. You also believe in autonomy and innovation balanced with high accountability for adults.
  • You are comfortable working in complex environments, and managing through change.
