Work Hours: 1.0 FTE TOSA position (39weeks)

Implements and manages the high school pathway to teaching program for MPS high school students, including teaching relevant concurrent courses for program participants. Manages relationships with participating school principals and teachers, advanced academics, and university partners for the development and program implementation. Guides the school community to ensure all stakeholders understand requirements of the concurrent enrollment courses and support schools during initial implementation and expansion. Advocate for increased student access and success in all courses and opportunities to explore the teaching profession.

Program Management and Development
  • Responsible for all aspects of program management including timely and clear communication with key stakeholders including principals, university partners, students, and teachers.
  • Guide school community members (principals, teachers) to ensure all stakeholders understand requirements of the concurrent enrollment projects.
  • Support school implementation and program expansion.
  • Develop program metrics, goals, and long term vision in following years in collaboration with MPS, university partnerships, and school-based principals and teachers.
  • Report on key performance indicators using data analysis and program assessment.
  • Develop opportunities for students to learn about the teaching profession.
  • Act as main point of contacts for student participants including recruitment process communication, program support, and data tracking.

Concurrent Course Instruction
  • Instruct concurrent enrollment courses using researched best practices and strategies that engage students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
  • Teach students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving.
  • Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting as well as multicultural/gender and ability fair/developmentally appropriate.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions and use family and community resources to support learning.

University Partner Management
  • Act as the key MPS contact with university partners and manage all key communication, reporting, and contract functions.
  • Provide logistical and scheduling support with university partners both at MPS sites and at university sites.
  • Act as a liaison between MPS and university partners.

Program marketing and recruitment
  • Create marketing materials for student and teacher recruitment to build program presence within MPS.
  • Host information sessions and recruiting events to encourage student applicants and build interest in the pipeline program.
  • Review stakeholder feedback to continuously improve outreach to students, families, and school sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  1. A valid Minnesota Teaching License
  2. Master's Degree in Education

Experience
  1. At least three years of effective instruction teaching a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting, grades 6-12.
  2. Experience in counseling, teaching, or oversight of PSEO, Advanced Placement or Concurrent Enrollment/CIS programs strongly preferred.
  3. Project management, program development, recruitment and marketing, and budget management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  1. Detailed understanding of the principles and practices of concurrent enrollment and Post Secondary Education Options.
  2. Knowledge of class scheduling and ability to manage complex schedules.
  3. Strong facilitation, change management and communication skills (both oral and written).
  4. Ability to collect, organize and analyze data for instructional and program improvement.
  5. Knowledge of student recruitment and engagement strategies.
