Title: School Improvement Coach, Specially Designed Instruction Visual/Hearing Impaired

Position Summary:
Works with special education teachers and students with disabilities in assigned schools to improve the quality of teaching and student learning in any of the core content areas (reading, language arts, math, science, or social studies) with a focus on specially designed instruction. This position will specifically support orthopedically impaired, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing impaired students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists teachers and grade level teams with the implementation of the Georgia Standards of ExcellenceWorks with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methodsAnalyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taughtAnalyzes student test data and advise teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practicesRecommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as neededDemonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategiesRecommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomesServes as the liaison for professional learning between SEC and the schoolCoordinates site-based professional learning activities as neededConducts professional development at the school as neededInforms faculty of professional development opportunitiesParticipates in periodic professional learning activitiesPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Special Education; Master's Degree preferred

Experience:

• Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience required

Certification/Licensure:

• Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in one or more areas of Special Education

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessmentsStrong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachersAbility to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levelsHigh technological skill level requiredDemonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential informationMust be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilitiesAbility to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issuesMust be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of peopleExcellent organizational skills
  Must have reliable transportation and willing to travel within the district to various schools
  
  Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  
  

Salary Information:

Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Teacher Support Salary Schedule (190 Days)
