Supervised by and/or Reports to: Building Administrator
General Responsibilities: Provides guidance and support in the area of instruction to teachers and students across all content areas.
Essential Duties(This list is intended solely as an illustration of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude their addition if they are similar to or a logical extension of the position.)
Researches and provides materials, information, and guidance to teachers at the school level regarding a range of effective and innovative practices through various activities such as individual discussions (informal and formal), coaching sessions, classroom demonstrations, classroom observations, study groups, staff meetings, and professional
Provides support to teachers and administrators at the school
Assists with assessments and coordination of various special academic programs.
Researches and prepares materials for the use by the departments, teachers, or schools related to assessment and interpretation of assessment
Supports instructional staff in effective assessment of student achievement in all contents, interprets assessment data and application of assessment results to planning and instruction, etc.
Provides model instruction to students in whole group, small group, or one-to-one
Delivers training across the curriculum and specific instructional framework
Assists teachers in planning for differentiation, scaffolding, and station/center teaching.
Maintains paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely
Coordinates/facilitates instructional
Maintains the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and
Meets regularly with central office instructional specialists.Acts as an instructional leader/expert.
Works with administration and teachers on Response to Intervention.
Provides instruction to students as needed.
Performs other duties as
Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of current research and best practices in instruction and
Strong verbal and presentation
Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet established
Serves as role
Requisite Education and Experience:Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with Middle School 6-8 endorsement.
Master's Degree in curriculum and instruction
Learning Focused Schools Trainer preferred.
Five or more years of successful teaching experience in elementary and/or middle school classrooms
Expertise in instruction.
Experience in designing and delivering effective professional development activities at the district, school, and classroom
Experience with curriculum
Experience in leadership
Experience in a diverse, multicultural teaching and learning
Physical Requirements:Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions are required.
