Position Overview:
The Business Office Support Specialist supports the business and operational functions of the Business Office.
Examples of Duties:
Serve as the first point of contact for the District and Business Offices including greeting visitors, monitoring door access and answering phones.
Process deposit records from across the District by maintaining and updating financial software system (Skyward).
Assisting with the processing of the monthly P-card invoice.
Prepare for and participate in various accounting audits.
Process workers compensation claims and prepare necessary reports.
Process journal entries and budget transfers for District level departments and School sites.
Provide general clerical support to the Business Office.
Assist with the accounting functions of the district.
Assist in the maintenance of the school district's general ledger and balance sheet through proper posting of expenditures, revenues, and general entries.
Daily receipt of deposits and properly account for the school district revenue/refunds/accounts receivable.
Assist in school district's annual financial audit and account analysis.
Keep records and logs of fiscal transactions for use in reports and audits.
Compile data and balance fund related financial reports.
Answers correspondence, phone, and electronic mail concerning procedures or inquires on the processing of payments/deposits/refunds by
responding verbally or in writing.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong numerical aptitude is required for this position.
Ability to communicate (verbal and written) and interact in a positive and professional manner with all internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate effective organizational skills.
Ability to produce multiple projects, priorities and tasks simultaneously and independently in an organized and timely manner.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
Able to effectively use a variety of technologies, including but not limited to: word processing, email systems, internet, and ability to adapt to changes in
technology.
General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use Excel software, internet software, e-mail, financial software (Skyward is a plus).
Attention to detail, confidentiality, professionalism, flexibility, and adaptability are a must.
