Visual Arts Signature School Coordinator/Art Teacher - Quincy (4794)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicants must meet the Kansas State Department of Education licensure requirements or must have a minimum of a bachelors of fine arts (BFA)degree

• Good communication and organizational skills

• Creative problem solver

• Ability to make and maintain community partnerships

• Excellent written and oral communication skills; computer skills preferred

• Self-starter and independent worker

• Advocate for the visual arts

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be able to coach teachers on how to incorporate the visual arts into their curriculum, build community partnerships, set short and long term goals to infuse the visual arts signature theme throughout the entire school, teach art during the school day, coordinate visual arts events, assemblies and speakers to showcase student work and to expose students to the many different medians included within the visual arts field of study. The applicant will also design and coordinate after school and summer visual arts programs.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Makes recommendations to administration on program development.

• Assist in coordinating program resources. • Coordination of staff and professional development.

• Assist administration with the recruitment, selection, orientation, professional development for after school/summer school visual art teachers.

• Purchasing and ordering equipment/supplies.

• Collaborating with NOTO (North Topeka Arts District) by serving on the steering committee to strengthen the partnership with Topeka Public Schools.

• Give presentations as requested to community groups and the TPS Board of Education.

• Collect, maintain data on programs implemented for program evaluation purposes.
