Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking a Special Education Transition Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.
Description:
• Case management of students challenged with low incidence disabilities
• Work with classroom and community based transition instructional programs,
• Educational programming supporting daily living & vocational skill development, vocational assessments, & familiarity with post transition support systems (social security, PUNs list, DRS, Medicaid Funding, etc.).
• Social emotional and academic interventions in individual and small group settings
• Participation in the student evaluation process
• Crisis management
• Provision of in-services addressing post high school supports and options for both parents and students.
• Collaboration with parents on a frequent basis regarding their child's needs, progress, strategies for improvement, and future planning.
• Collaboration with related service staff to support daily living skills development
• Supervision of paraprofessionals to ensure 1:1 differentiation and support essential for accommodating students both within the school and out in the community
• Ability to assist students and parents in determining appropriate adult service providers and establishes contacts.
• Establishing, tracking, and updating IEP goals for students in vocational programming.
• Participation in Individual Education Program (IEP) conferences and other meetings for vocational/ transition planning as needed.
• Collaboration with teachers regarding community based instructional and prevocational options for students with IEPs and the provision of guidance and support in the development of, and progress towards, vocational goals.
• Collaboration with teachers regarding student progress.
• Collaboration with teachers regarding program development
Qualifications:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS-1 or LBS-II endorsement and has completed course work supporting transition programming instruction.
