Summary

The Magnet Site Coordinator shall be responsible for the effective management of the overall school-based magnet program and the class or classes to which he or she is assigned. The Magnet Site Coordinator shall implement an educational program responsive to student and community needs according to state and local policy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drafts the school's recruitment plan and coordinate its implementationsAssists the principal with creating and maintaining community partnership agreementsCreates community outreach initiativesDrafts the school's interaction plan and coordinate its implementation, if applicableConducts the magnet registration process according to Board approved policy and maintain accurate documentation of all students enrolled in the school's magnet programConducts tours and speak with prospective parentsConducts schedule and implement site-based magnet professional development activitiesPurchases materials and supplies in a timely mannerCompletes online requisitions for materials, monitors the process of receiving materials, log material in when received and disperse them to the appropriate teachersAnalyzes student test data to identify areas of strength/weaknessesCommunicates with parents regarding students' academic performancePrepares yearly inventory of materials purchased with magnet fundsPrepares reports as requested by the Office of Magnet Programs in a timely mannerServes as editor of news articles related to magnet programs for submission in the Advocate's Back to School insert, Parent's Magazine, and district publicationsMarkets programs at fairs, festivals, and in other forumsSchedules appropriate educational experiences for the school's programParticipates in the district's annual recruiting event, i.e., Magnet ManiaAssist with registering students for the school's programPrepares class rolls for the coming school yearPlans and prepare an appropriate budgetAssumes responsibilities for the opening and closing of school activitiesAssumes responsibilities for all other duties as required by the principal and district officePerforms other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college/university with A Master's Degree, plus two years of progressive work experience preferred. Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university. Must hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate.
