  •    Summary
    The position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops skills in Family & Consumer Science courses. These courses include; Clothing & Fashion, Advanced Fashion, Interior Design, Food & Nutrition, Culture & Cuisines, Baking & Pastry Arts, Cardinal Cooks, Advanced Cardinal Cooks, Honors Culinary Skills, Child Development, Individual & Family Development, Honors Individual & Family Development, Life Skills for the Independent You, Relationships. Connecticut State Certification - 045 is required.
    Responsibilities
    • Delivers content, concepts, skills, and assessments, as designated within the Greenwich Public Schools Family & Consumer Science curriculum.
    • Adapts Family & Consumer Science material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that inform, guide and challenge students.
    • Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the department's philosophy and aligned with course standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
    • Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, inventory checklists, and other record keeping activities as necessary.
    • Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.
    • Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the course standards for Family & Consumer Science concepts and skills.
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an effective and productive classroom environment.
    • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
    • Participates in faculty obligations and the sponsorship of student activities.
    • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities
    Work Year and Compensation
    Work year is 187 days, salary based on appropriate GEA salary.
    Qualifications
    • Graduated from Accredited University
    • CT Certification is required (045)
    • Strong communication skills orally and in writing
