We are seeking an experienced human capital development expert committed to actualizing our vision of educating today's leaders-and those of the future- with the critical knowledge, skills, abilities to eradicate poverty in Central Harlem-and beyond-through our proven network of comprehensive placed-based, youth-focused outcomes driven supports and services.
The Director of Training & Leadership Development will be an inquisitive, mission-driven professional, focused on developing the human capital workforce necessary toward actualizing our commitment toward achieving prosperity for all the children and families in Central Harlem-and beyond. The ideal candidate will possess the combination of technical HR skills, tactful temperament, and the ability to interweave themselves into the day-to-day complexities of an established community-based organization. This position will report to the Senior Managing Director of Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Align enterprise wide training programs with organizational Values and history, leadership competencies, strategic plan and overall theory of change
- Oversee all mandatory compliance training programs to keep organization in compliance with regulatory agencies
- Work closely with HR to ensure effective onboarding of all new employees across a variety of disciplines and occupations, including by role and job function
- Independently and proactively discover and identify skill gaps in workforce through focus groups, surveys and other informal methods of feedback
- Partner with management and staff to develop, implement, monitor and see-through individualized development plans and groups trainings for staff
- Identify and coordinate key skills training across related job/position families (e.g., across various youth-, parent- and community-focused positions)
- Create critical training programs and opportunities for entry level student- and parent-facing front line staff, particularly around the principles of youth development
- Ensure all newly hired and promoted supervisors receive appropriate new supervisor trainings
- Help develop an organizational methodology for creating an internal talent pipeline
- Develop self-paced/directed training opportunities for staff at all levels
- Create tools and systems to evaluate effectiveness of all training initiatives
- Own leadership development initiatives (e.g., Assistant Director and Director fellowship programs) throughout all organizational levels
- Collaborate with Practitioners Institute to advise external practitioners on training and leadership development best practices
- Identify and effectively manage relationships with expert external training consultants to provide to fill internal training capacity gaps
- Host professional development speaker series to reinforce previously learned best practices, theories and concepts
- Manage state-of-the art training facility
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience managing and leading training programs; Master's degree preferred
- Knowledge and experience with the principles of adult learning and the instructional practice of train-the-trainer
- Strong consultative and coaching skills and ability to effectively navigate matrixed organizational hierarchies
- Experience optimizing learning management systems (LMS) platforms
- Understanding of career mapping and the ability to help staff think strategically about career progression
- Ability to lead and develop a 3+ person full-time team
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
- Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to adapt to various audiences
- Ability to build relationships and mentorship with staff; facilitate productive working relationships between management
- Strong project management skills with the ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
