City on a Hill began with a single high school in Boston, opening its doors in 1995. Currently we have three locations: Circuit Street (Roxbury, MA) Dudley Square (Roxbury, MA) and New Bedford. Please note that this position is based out of our New Bedford, MA location. 

Role Description:
  • Teaching pullout sections, depending upon the enrollment of students with disabilities and summer school results
  • Implement the City on a Hill Special Education inclusion model
  • Create and update master accommodations/modifications spreadsheet for general education reference
  • Proctor MCAS and SAT separate setting testing environments
  • Provide after school academic support for students with disabilities between 3:30-4:00pm.
  • Attend all grade level and IEP meetings of students in sections
  • Attend all Town Meetings and weekly faculty meetings
  • Participate in assigned professional development group and City on a Hill's Peer Observation Program.
  • Record daily attendance and behavioral information in online Student Information System
  • Attend quarterly parent/advisor nights, graduation, and other required school events; Support Special Education Supervisor, as needed, with Open Houses and Admissions sessions
  • Participate in Open Houses and Admissions sessions as LN representative
  • Lead Sustained Silent Reading.
  • All duties associated with being a member of the Learning Network.
  • Additional duties, as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor, Vice Principal, or Principal.

Required Qualifications
  • Belief that every student, regardless of background, can and must achieve academically at high levels
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with teaching English and History preferred. 
  • Preliminary MA teaching certification or is working toward earning MA certification.
  • Experience preferred, particularly in an urban setting
  • SEI or RETELL endorsement
