Please note this position will be based out of  one of our Boston, MA locations (Roxbury). 
 A Nurse at a City on a Hill School has the following responsibilities:
  Duties:
  • Scheduled visits to the school to work with Student Support Team and identified students (phone consults as needed);
  • Record Review: review all returning student health records with medical issues; ensure all immunizations are current; review all records of all incoming 9th graders,
  • Support families with specific health issues (diabetes, sickle cell, pregnancy, asthma, allergies).
  • Work with admin to plan and review 504 plans and accommodations
  • Collaboration with the Student Service Team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and other school health activities;
  • Support and monitor system, protocol, and personnel of medication delegation to self-administration, and refilling
  • Health Bulletin Board maintenance
  • Lead beginning-of-year trainings with student support team to faculty and staff
  • Complete all DPH required screenings (vision, BMI, scoliosis, hearing).
  • Oversee implementation and execution of the SBIRT program.
  • Oversee implementation and execution of a medical delegation program.
  • Meet regularly with students support staff to track progress of students
  • Annually review all student handbooks and materials to ensure all health issues are up-to-date compliance.
  • Oversee school compliance with school health care requirements
  • Additional duties, as assigned by the Director of School Operations, Student Services Coordinator, Principal, or Vice Principal
  • Belief that every student, regardless of background, can and must achieve academically at high levels
Required Qualifications:
  • Must hold a BSN or RN with a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing, or pediatric nursing;
  • Current CPR/ AED certification, current nurse license in Massachusetts 
  • Must be able to travel to both Boston schools, which are roughly 5 minutes apart.  
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Preferred to have School Nurse training including screenings, medication and diabetes management
