The HCZ Westside Community Center is located in our Promise Academy® I school building-a 135,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility opened in the heart of the St. Nicholas housing development in 2013. A microcosm of our approach throughout the Zone, the facility is a tremendous asset and, through the Community Center, we are making sure that St. Nick residents reap the benefits for years to come.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, extremely organized, and exceptionally skilled Program Specialist/Service Learning Coordinator to work collaboratively with our high school programs and community partners for the summer. This role will report to the Program Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research, develop and implement service learning projects and events to connect service learners with appropriate opportunities
  • Collaborate with HCZ's high school programs to ensure that service learners actively engages in service
  • Produce a monthly service learning calendar to reflect events/activities
  • Facilitate telephone conversations with community partners who are interested in participating in service learning opportunities
  • Gather, analyze, and act upon feedback from HCZ programs and community partners on their satisfaction with the service learning process
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator to provide information to the Program Director
  • Remain knowledgeable of Community Pride's program goals and help team to reach these goals
  • Attend trainings and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Coordinate logistics for service learning projects as necessary
  • Prepare weekly action plans and reports to help improve programming
  • Maintain files and necessary documentation for student experiences
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • In pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • At least 3 years' experience working in community or youth development
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Ability to function well as part of a team, as well as ability to work independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program
  • Must be available Monday - Thursday, and Saturdays between 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
