    Position Type: Principal for Pueblo City Schools

    Description:
    East High School is an authorizaed International Baccaulaureate World School providing Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP). Pueblo City Schools is seeking bold leaders that are willing to take certain bold actions, that enable them to set high expectations for increasing student achievement that lead to dramatic gains. These actions lead to a continuous cycle of planning based on data, implementing plans through effective communication and visionary leadership, monitoring to ensure actions are getting the desired results, and changing approaches as necessary. The Principal of East High School will support the collaborative development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the school's unified improvement plan. The Principal of East High School will provide professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate a school program. The Principal of East High School will develop and maintain an effective educational program for the evaluation and improvement of instruction to ensure maximum educational benefits for students. The Principal of East High School will have a direct impact on the quality of instruction through the observation feedback process, educator evaluation, Professional Learning Communities (PLC), data driven instruction, school culture, and the teaching and learning cycle.

    Salary Range: $92,900 - $107,600

    Required Qualifications:
    Please note: You must submit a cover letter with your application which specifically addresses how you meet the following qualifications for this position citing specific examples.
    • Valid Colorado Principal License or eligible for within 60 days from date of hire
    • A Master's Degree in school administration
    • Three years successful school supervisory or administrative experience within a diverse population

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Valid Colorado Teaching License
    • Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience at the high school level
    • Knowledge and experience with secondary curriculum, standards and aassessment
    • Experience with and training in IB in one or more criteria (Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme) with experience in Middle Years Programme
    • Experience with and training in AVID
    • Completion of advanced coursework or specific experience in one or more of the following academic areas: mathematics, literacy, English Language Learners, or Exceptional Student Services
    • Demonstrated experience in the role of an instructional coach

    Job Expectations:
    • Work in collaboration with the Executive Director of Secondary Education and CTE to support the vision and mission of the school and to ensure the fidelity of implementation of the International Baccalaureate educational program model of instruction
    • Work to develop and implement an instructional framework that aligns curriculum with state standards, effective instructional practices, student learning needs and assessments
    • Serve on a multi-disciplinary team to assess and facilitate a school climate that supports student engagement in learning and generates high expectations for learning growth by all students through creating and monitoring a responsive, culturally relevant annual implementation plan
    • Coordinate intensive individual student behavior and academic plans, coach teachers to implement classroom management systems and positive behavior interventions.
    • Work with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling and collaborative planning
    • Lead collaborative teams of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders to realize zone initiatives and serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.
    • Conduct evaluations of certified and classified staff and utilize the teacher evaluation process to improve instruction that will increase student achievement
    • Use multiple data sources to make sound instructional decisions; train and support the staff in the use of the data driven instructional model that communicates the relationships among academic standards, effective instruction and student performance
    • Recruit, select and hire school staff including teachers and school-based support staff
    • Serve as an instructional leader that provides instructional staff with specific feedback and job-embedded coaching to increase the quality of instruction through the use of the observation feedback cycle.
    • Monitor and provide support for the Exceptional Student Services process and ensure effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support
    • Plan, lead and monitor the implementation of professional development that is clearly linked to the system-wide strategic objectives and the Unified School Improvement Plan
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Superintendent or designee

    • Aligning human resources to school needs, setting high expectations and effectively managing all school employees to meet school goals

    Leading for Increased Effectiveness
    • Focusing on evidence-based growth and results to drive the school towards annual and long-term goals
    • Engaging school community members effectively to ensure all stakeholders are included in school improvement efforts
    • Listening to and communicating with all the school's stakeholders; building successful interpersonal relationships with faculty, staff members, family and community members and students
    • Managing the change process, including making tough decisions when necessary to move the school and students forward
    • Engaging in constant personal learning, including the need to learn and adapt when faced with challenges and successes
