POSITION TITLE: Senior Project Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Career Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Arlington Tech Capstone Experience is the culmination of an Arlington Tech student's cross-curricular, project-based learning and career development. Capstone Experience provides the student a gateway to apply and to advance her or his knowledge, technical expertise, and research skills learned in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses within real world business and industry settings. Students may complete the Capstone Experience in one or three ways:

1. As paid or unpaid intern in a job placement relevant to the student's career pathway (working on-the-job site), (1 to 3 variable credits based on hours worked)*

2. As a project manager/consultant working for a client to deliver a product or to solve a problem (working on-the-job site or at school)

3. As a research assistant at a university, government organization, or non-profit (working on-the-job site or at school).

The Capstone Coordinator will be responsible for the following to support students in the Capstone Experience:


  • Develop, assist, and mentor students in the completion of pre-Capstone requirements (i.e. job shadow/informational interview, resume writing, mock interviews, etc.)

  • Assist students with securing an internship or consulting placement, or developing research project prior to the start of their senior year

  • Conduct observations of students at internship sites

  • Work with partners/mentors on evaluating student progress, quarterly reviews, and assigning of grades

  • Develop relationships with new potential partners and cultivate existing partnerships to expand placement options

  • Serve as point of contact for business partners and mentors, families, and students, regarding student progress

  • Maintain organized records of student internship, consultant, and research positions including the completion of partnership agreements for all students

  • Meet with grade level teacher teams, as needed, to provide progress updates and plan coordinated activities

  • Other duties as assigned


EXPERIENCE:

  • Teaching experience in the above mentioned area

  • Knowledge of best instructional practices

  • Ability to integrate technology

  • Experience in educational and instructional leadership
