SUMMARY Under general supervision, develops and administers MPS Community Education Programs (CEP) and facility-use programs to meet the education, recreation and social needs of the community; develops programs according to market trends, community issues, defined needs and available resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Administers and coordinates a variety of CEP support programs, classes, student services, community services, workshops, training programming including but not limited to: Youth out of school time enrichment programs, and after-school programs in support of MPS community education goals; performs duties within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with MPS policies; duties will vary according to job assignment.
  • Participate in all, community education department meetings, federal grant, school and community meetings.
  • staff to develop and support Community Education and MPS priorities and goals.
  • Research and develop new partnerships to deliver programming to underserved populations.
  • Research and develop innovative programs and partnerships in the community.
  • Manages daily program operations; evaluates and analyzes program issues, and recommends and implements solutions.
  • Evaluates programs and develops recommendations for changes and improvements; interviews students and instructors, and evaluates opinions and recommendations to improve quality.
  • Coordinates specialized educational support and services programs, including coordinating program functions, and managing data and reporting systems; assists with budgets, program evaluation, contracts, transportation, customer services and compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Assists in managing program staff and operations; trains staff, and prioritizes and assigns projects; provides counseling and guidance on professional responsibilities and technical skills.
  • Assesses community needs and interests to determine the programming needs in the community, recruiting and facilitating an advisory council, attending community meetings and networking groups, and conducting community surveys and evaluations.
  • Develop creative and innovative classes and activities to offer a high quality youth and or adult program,
  • Provides high quality customer service, financial and office management, data tracking and analysis.
  • Creatively promotes and markets programs, develops promotional media, flyers, e-marketing, and public service announcements; participates in community outreach programs and promotes MPS CEP.
  • Assists in administrative functions, including budgets, revenue and expenses, payroll, and financial reports; requisitions supplies and equipment; coordinates ongoing inventories, and maintains records.
  • Manages and organizes the use of facilities for programs, events, activities and community groups.
  • Promotes lifelong learning and participation in community programs to enhance the quality of life.
  • Maintains discipline throughout the CEP programs and resolves special cases as needed.
  • Completes and coordinates special projects and research assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field; AND two (2) years of experience working in public education support programs; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
