    POSITION: Director of Student Intervention Services
    LOCATION: Administration Building

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:
    • This position develops district philosophy, protocol, monitoring and support for building staff on all aspects related to K-12 discipline, expulsion, determination, Restorative Justice, and Asst. Principal Supervision to ensure compliance with state law, board policy and reporting mandates.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Coach, direct, support and collaborate with the district's Assistant Principals. Review and provide feedback regarding school discipline data, identify and provide resources as deemed necessary.Consult with individual asst. principals that need more intensive support or have unique circumstances arise.
    • Be available by to consult, advise problem-solve and support k12 administrators on day to day issues concerning students' safety, discipline, staff needs and parent complaints.
    • Acts as a resource and a liaison to all building administrators and deans on issues of threats and threat assessments.
    • Mentor, train and supervise new administrators on District protocols and expectations for communication with parents and students around discipline issues.
    • Support Asst. Principal meetings according to directives from Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary Schools.
    • Establish discipline philosophy and communicate best practices for addressing student discipline in conjunction with state laws and Board Policies. Produce guidelines which ensure due process is provided to students when they are involved in disciplinary incidents.Provide support to building administration on communication strategies with parents and students while the student is engaged in the disciplinary process. Monitor and review k12 suspension information for consistency and emerging trends.Oversee expulsion process.Work with administrations across the district in finding best fit for at-risk students.Develop creative options for students needing alternative educational environments.
    • Coordinate with HR on the best practices in hiring, training and retaining staff. Collaborate with Executive Directors to approve all job requisitions.
    • Discipline, Expulsion and denial of admission (including hearings); supervision of district expulsion hearings and district hearing procedures, provide direction to school administrators regarding student discipline issue' frequent communication with parents regarding student discipline, expulsion and truancy matters.
    • Position includes participation of several county and regional juvenile services boards and committees and state policy committees. Services as District primary liaison to Department of Human Services and works closely with law enforcement, probation, juvenile courts and other youth-serving agencies
    • Provide professional development as indicated by student and staff needs.
    • Work with school district staff to develop district-wide discipline policies, procedures and supports; implement discipline support programs such as Positive Behavior Supports, Second Step, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
    • Obtain and maintain a solid understanding of state law, Adams 14 Board of Education policies and emerging best practices on topics which impact and influence how schools can keep children safe and engaged in school while maximizing their academic achievement. Apply this knowledge while assisting school leadership, teachers and community members in maneuvering the day to day operations of a school.
    • All District Administrators must be sensitive to the needs and backgrounds of our students, the largest portions of which are Hispanic and must display the highest integrity and strongest commitment to students, professional ideals and ethical standards in pursuit of educational excellence.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Minimum of a master's degree in Educational Administration.
    • Possess a license or evidence eligibility for licensure in Colorado as Principal or Administrator.
    • Strong, current knowledge and training in instructional best practices that have resulted in increased achievement and school adjustment for students with unique learning needs.
    • Demonstrated successful experience in serving students through inclusionary practices in special education, behavior, and teaching at-risk populations.

    EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum of two years' experience in a significant leadership role which includes supervision of multiple functions.
    • Prefer background with general and special education and experience with students' diverse learning needs including disabilities, second language learners.
