ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Warren Tech is the premier Career and Technical Education (CTE) center for Jefferson County Public Schools. An educational and technological leader, Warren Tech integrates academics in career and technical education, preparing students for both college and career. Warren Tech students are engaged and committed to their programs, which is evidenced by a 93% attendance rate, 96% graduation rate, and a 97% program completion rate. Virtually all programs offer academic credit in 11th or 12th grade math, science, and English, which counts toward their graduation. AP coursework is also offered by some programs. Another hallmark of Warren Tech's success is the college credit awarded to our students each year. Last year, our students earned nearly 13,000 Red Rocks Community College credits. A large number of students attend colleges and universities after finishing Warren Tech, and some students have even earned an Associate's degree in a Warren Tech program before they finish high school. Warren Tech students also earn industry certifications through their coursework and participate in client work, internships, and job shadows with industry partners. Job Description

I. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Must have current teaching license with an ELA endorsement
B. Master's degree required
C. Passion for CTE education
D. Willing to obtain a CTE endorsement

II. REPORTS TO:
Warren Tech Administration

III. SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Warren Tech English Instructional Coach will provide coaching support to instructors in the areas of ELA content and pedagogy. This position works in conjunction with other instructional coaches, instructors, and administration to design, implement, and support staff development and instruction. Instructional coaches are an integral part of the Warren Tech Instructional Leadership Team.

IV. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
  • Focuses on continued support of standards-based academics in CTE programs
  • Team teaches with CTE instructors
  • Co-teaches in various CTE programs on both North and Central campuses
  • Develops and delivers specific lessons in ELA tied to CTE subject matter (research, writing, communication, etc.)
    • Co-plans and develops curriculum and assessments with CTE instructors
    • Integrates English content and standards into CTE programs
    • Ability to organize, consult, and work as a team with a wide spectrum of instructors, i.e. instructional coaches, content teachers, and special education teachers
    • Strong in facilitation and presentation skills, in addition to coaching skills
    • Knowledge of and experience working with a diverse student and staff population, including students with special needs
    • Works with CTE instructors in identifying students who need additional ELA or CTE content support
    • Broad experience in data analysis, making program and instructional decisions about students, and working with instructors in making sense of data
    • Support of academic crosswalk process and NCAA approval for all programs
    • Provides support for teachers with instructional strategies and pedagogy
    • Supports instructors with student organizations
    • Participates and attends all necessary professional development opportunities at the school site and at the district
    • Participates as a member and leader of the school community
    • Develops and co-facilitates differentiated professional development
    • Understanding of effective classroom management, which creates an inclusive, multicultural, positive, and safe learning environment using a wide range of classroom management techniques
    • Has a strong sense of self, and identifies as a coach
    • Flexible and comfortable with change
    • Possesses articulate communication skills
    • Seeks to build capacity in others
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff and students
    • A demonstrated knowledge of the needs of the high school level student and the ability to plan instruction to meet these needs

  • Shared planning and committee work, occurring beyond the normal school day
  • Using current technology as it relates to classroom instruction and school management
