We need you to put our students on a path to college early on in their education.

Working at KIPP New Jersey is about being student-focused.  It's about teamwork.  It's about having fun, and having the freedom to lead in ways that are most successful for your students.  It's also about making an impact in Camden, a city that is experiencing a renaissance and on the verge of revolutionizing how America views education in urban communities.

We're looking for an emotional support/special education teacher to lead a self-contained (all subjects) emotional support classroom for KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy in Camden for the 2019-20 school year. As an emotional support teacher, you will be responsible for planning and executing lessons for a classroom of elementary school students

A bit more about you... you have experience teaching and you know what good special education instruction looks like for elementary school.  You're ready to work hard and have the passion and drive to work with students in order to put them on a path to college.

Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Perform daily teaching tasks like teaching, grading, monitoring lunch, and any of the other things that make you awesome at your job
  • Be a good teammate - work closely with other school staff to create and reinforce a firm foundation for all classes
  • Modify and build your curriculum to make it your best, working closely with the principal, instructional leader, and student support teams
  • Help with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing across the school
  • Teach guided reading to small groups of kids to remediate and challenge each student
  • Update student performance trackers and use data to help guide you plans
  • Communicate consistently with families about student progress
Must Haves (ie: what you need to rock at this role):
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
  • A minimum of two years teaching, preferably in urban or low income settings
  • A track record of success in the classroom, with data that you can explain
  • Subject matter expertise
  • A collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning
  • The ability to be flexible in a fast-paced founding school environment where things change all the time
