Job Details
EMS is seeking a passionate and energetic Guidance Counselor to join a diverse, energetic middle school committed to ensuring all students are set up for success, and maintaining high standards for all. Applicants must also be dedicated to the belief that all students have the ability to succeed and believe in Restorative Practices as a means of support. Applicants must be high energy, fast-paced and dedicated in order to meet the demands of this position.
Job Requirements:
- Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
- Endorsement as a School Counselor or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
The following are Required :
- Experience at the middle school level.
- Understanding of Cultural Competency
- Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.
- Experience providing individual and group counseling and/or providing crisis assessment, intervention, and referrals to appropriate agencies.
- Experience providing consultation with colleagues and with multiple student support systems.
The following are Preferred :
- Experience providing services to middle school level students
- Highly organized
- Flexible
- Creative and resilient
- Strong writing, conflict resolution and meeting facilitation skills
- Effective communication approaches with colleagues and families
- Training and/or experience with English Language Learners
- Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform services to students
- Experience with a multicultural student environment and English Language Learners
- Experience with the facilitation and/or coordination of student support services
- Experience with Restorative Practices
SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
