The Hanover High School Footlighters have a 2-month, part-time position open for a Director for the fall Shakespeare play. The director will work closely with the student actors to direct the show, and he or she will also be responsible for decisions about set, costume, sound, and lighting design, and overseeing other aspects of the show. This will be done in coordination with the Footlighters Coordinator, who produces the play, and the Technical Director, who supervises the crew and the set build.
The director must have a thorough understanding of a text-based approach to teaching Shakespeare's language to student actors, and have a working familiarity with various Shakespearean acting techniques. Experience performing, directing, and/or teaching Shakespeare strongly preferred. Experience and love of working with teenagers is a must. A Bachelor's degree & 2-5 years experience preferred.
Rehearsals are every day after school in September and October, 2019. There may be one or more Saturday rehearsals, as needed. Auditions will take place the week of September 2, 2019. Apply by 5/1/19.
