Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Wellness Program Specialist will be responsible for supporting the benefits team in building a culture of health and wellness at Denver Public Schools through the implementation, promotion and coordination of staff wellness programs.

- Engages employees, managers, and employee groups in making changes to policies, practices and worksite environments to increase healthy behaviors among employees.

- Supports worksite environmental changes, such as healthy eating and active living that have the greatest impact on employee health.

- Coordinates meetings/trainings/other programs across the district.

- Monitors and updates employee wellness intranet site and content.

- Supports the day-to-day coordination and administration of staff wellness components, to include but not limited to assisting in the administration of the staff wellness health promotion portal, booking rooms for programs, payment and coordination of vendors, tracking program participation and incentives, and answering employees' questions.

- Stays abreast of the best practices and changing trends in the health promotion field and incorporates those into the wellness programs initiatives.

- Collaborates with DPS medical plan carriers and other vendors as needed to help market and promote programs and resources that are currently available to employees.

- Assists in the analyzation & evaluation of data to measure program effectiveness and the impact of worksite wellness strategies.

- Acts with the customer in mind; demonstrates strong and balanced customer service skills in problem-solving and communications.

- Travel to locations during open enrollment to set up, take down, and attend employee events.

- Support Open enrollment specifically through communications, events, one-on-one employee support, and technical changes.

- Promote Wellness Champions Program and works directly with champions on needs

- Work with Finance and Accounting to pay vendors, track expenditures, and reconcile to budget.

- Actively participates as a team member; shares accountability for team success.

- Help promote and grow worksite wellness programs throughout the district.

- Actively listens to diverse points of view; demonstrates respect for all individuals.

- Develops positive relationships among coworkers and customers.

- Supports communication strategies to increase employee participation and engagement in wellness initiatives.

- Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- A minimum of at least 3 years of experience coordinating & implementing health or benefits-related programs required.

- Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills

- Required to travel to multiple locations in one day.

- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.

- One or more of the following certifications preferred: Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager (CWWPM); Certified Worksite Wellness Specialist (CWWS), ACSM's Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist (PAPHS) certifications and or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

Education Requirements:

- High School Diploma/GED required.

- Bachelor's degree preferred (Public Health, Wellness, or related field)
