Elementary Math Instructional Coach - 2019- 2020

Gestalt Community Schools is accepting applications for a Math Instructional Coach for the 2019-2020 school year. Applicants should have expertise in understanding the TN Academic Standards for mathematics elementary grades K-5. All candidates should be prepared to help develop a cutting-edge mathematics academic program that reflects Gestalt Community Schools organizational math priority including the process standards of problem solving, reasoning and proof, communication, representation, and connections.

Responsibilities includes
  • Facilitate professional development of assigned math teachers with a focus on improving student achievement
  • Develop collegial relationships with teachers with a goal of understanding the teacher's current instructional delivery strategy and opportunities to incorporate other research proven instructional methods to meet the individual and collective needs of the students.
  • Coach teachers on establishing effective classroom management practices, and individual behavioral intervention plans by tailoring communication style and approach to meet diverse personalities and backgrounds. Encourage teacher collaboration through positive interactions
  • Tailor communication with teachers to achieve adoption of changes to instructional delivery and planning to positively impact student engagement and achievement.
  • Support teachers through a non-evaluative, non-judgmental coaching model that builds self-directedness and internal capacity including planning, self-assessment and reflection
  • Model effective, differentiated instruction
  • Teaching scholars a common core based curriculum
  • Integrating technology into lessons and plans
  • Motivating teachers towards achievement
  • Work planning with school and network teams
  • Attending weekly required professional development training
  • Review student assessments
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Hold a current TN teaching license in appropriate subject area or the ability to secure a TN teaching license.
  • Have bacherlor's degree or higher, master degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of teaching experience, preferably with a focus on math.
  • Has a proven track record of academic success as evident in TN Ready, state assessments, and value add data.
  • Hold the belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
  • Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in a highly efficient manner.
  • Offers proven track record in the implementation of blended learning.
  • Good communication and written English skills required.
  • A team player with strong inter-personal skills.
