Deputy Director for the National Charter School Resource Center (NCSRC)

Description

Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG) is seeking a Deputy Director for the National Charter School Resource Center (NCSRC). The successful candidate will have complex project management experience as well as experience in K-12 education. The Deputy Director will work in close partnership with the Project Director in overseeing all operational aspects of the project in addition to lending subject matter expertise to deliverables. This role is for a full time employment position and based out of our Bethesda, MD office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as “second in command” of complex federal project
  • Manage staff, subcontractor, and SME task assignments and provide guidance to ensure that the highest quality work is completed on-time and within budget 
  • Manage contract deliverables and tasks to ensure success
  • Apply rigorous quality control standards and content area expertise in reviewing all deliverables to ensure products and services will exceed client expectations
  • Provide oversight to Project Manager in managing the budget and forecasting labor costs
  • Co-facilitate team meetings to ensure consistent communication and collaboration
  • Serve as a primary client and partner liaison when Director is not available
  • Manage the Technical Working Group and Research Council – each comprised of content experts who advise on project direction
  • Work with representatives from State Education Agencies and project staff to conduct needs assessments and establish state-specific TA goals and priorities
  • Facilitate/lead webinars with states and other TA recipients
  • Engage with senior firm leadership regarding the implementation and health of projects, including reporting through various internal mechanisms

 

Qualifications:

  • PMP preferred
  • At least seven years of demonstrated excellence in project management
  • Experience in managing teams and a rigorous schedule of deliverables
  • Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Excellent writing and document management skill
  • Education (preferred: charter school) experience as a teacher, coach, school leader, board chair, service provider, consultant, or subject matter expert
  • Experience working projects in government contacting, specifically ED preferred
