ABOUT THE JOB

This program specialist position provides direct support primarily to district preschool with human resources support. The primary functions will include recruiting, hiring and performance management.
Areas of support may include, but are not limited to:
-Oversight of HR Technician
-Design and oversee interview process
-Develop interview Questions and assist with interviews as needed
-Work with school staff in regards to staffing needs and hiring process
-Work with Employment Services in regards to recruitment and hiring
-Develop growth plans
-Guide schools with Performance Improvement Plans, Letters of Direction and Letters of Reprimand
-Manage licensing files for all preschool field employees
This individual will work closely with other program specialists for district alignment, as well as with the Assistant Director of Early Learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Responsible for providing essential support and supervision for all Jeffco Early Childhood staff at assigned Preschool sites in all areas of operation: curriculum, assessment, classroom environment, financial components, enrollment etc. Work under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Support on-site Preschool Director with implementation, training and maintenance of district curriculum, assessment and resources.

Support all aspects of program including: curriculum, assessment, enrollment, professional development, staff meetings, parent meetings, financial aspects of program (cash income, discretionary funds, purchase orders, petty cash, expenditure reports, technology, etc.).

Support resolution of personnel and student issues/concerns as they arise, with support from Early Learning Managers.

Partner with preschool directors to determine individual program needs based on evidence or data.

Provide general oversight and support for assigned locations within the district program.

Facilitate training and compliance of all district, Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), and Health Department policies and procedures to ensure staff, student, and classrooms meet all licensing requirements.

Fact-finding, problem solving and resolution of district, CDHS, local Fire Departments, Health Department policy and procedures to ensure overall compliance with all program rules and regulations.

Assist in new program license process, including enrollment, budget development, purchasing, and implementation.

Establish and maintain open, collaborative and supportive relationships with site Preschool Director, preschool staff, children, parents, principal, elementary school staff, preschool Special Education team, and Early Learning Office staff.

Develop, implement and facilitate new director training and provide ongoing support. Participate in ongoing staff development to continually gain knowledge and experience to lead others, transfer of knowledge to programs and maintain continuous personal and professional growth.

Evaluate Preschool Directors and provide regular feedback to promote ongoing performance and growth.

Exhibit and maintain open lines of communication with the Early Learning Office staff and administrators.

Attend director/staff meetings and/or trainings and participate collaboratively in the design and delivery of all trainings for all preschool directors and support staff.

Demonstrate experience with diverse learners and collaborative problem solving with positive results for families, programs and district.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Serve as site-based interim director and/or assist in maintaining staffing ratios, as necessary, for short and long term assignments.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Various education qualifications are acceptable for this position. Must hold a current Large Center Director Qualification Verification Letter from CDHS.

EXPERIENCE Three (3) to five (5) years successful Preschool Director experience in a licensed preschool program required. Experience in staff supervision and evaluation.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Knowledge of CDHS licensing rules and regulations. Demonstrate highly effective leadership skills. Ability to work with large groups. Strong ability to multi-task, be flexible with schedule, and effectively manage own time. Comfortable with traveling to sites in the district on a daily basis.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current Preschool Director Certification through Colorado Department of Human Services. Complete Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools training when provided through district. Current First Aid/CPR or complete within 60 days of hire.
