    Title: Asst. Boys Soccer Coach (JCHS)

    Qualifications: *Knowledge of the principles of effective teaching
    *Knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport
    *Coaching experience is preferred
    *Playing experience in high school and/or college preferred
    *Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    *Knowledge of district and state athletic guidelines
    *Good health & physical condition must be able to lift 50 pounds
    *Current TB skin test on file
    *CPR and First Aid Certification-Required
    *Bloodborne Pathogens Training-Required
    *Valid driver's license

    Reports To: Lead Coach/Head Coach of JCHS
    Building/District Athletic Director
    Building Principal

    Supervises: Student Athletes and Assistant Coaches

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
    The assistant coach is responsible for assisting the lead/ head coach and athletic directors at all levels to design, implement, and maintain a cohesive 7-12 athletic program in his/her respective sport that supports the district philosophy for athletics.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Have thorough knowledge of district and Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) policies/guidelines.
    2. Effectively collaborate with lead coach/high school head coach to establish a comprehensive program that develops fundamental skills related to their sport.
    3. Conduct themselves in a way by action and public communications that reflects confidence and respect for Geary County Schools USD 475.
    4. Emphasize academic excellence, set high standards, and continually monitor their student athlete's academic progress.
    5. Help prepare student athletes for the next level, be aware of KSHSAA, NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA eligibility requirements and make student athletes aware of the opportunities available to them.
    6. Assist in pre-season planning well in advance of starting date for the season.
    7. Participate in meetings before, during, and after the season. These meetings can be used to prevent, solve, or manage problems of the group, present new coaching techniques, develop procedures, and/or address issues about the sports curriculum.
    8. Provide guidance and leadership to student athletes, student managers, and statisticians as to their expectations and assigned duties. Cooperate fully with maintenance staff, transportation staff, and others similarly involved in overall program.
    9. Provide a safe environment for practice and games.
    10. Use sound and acceptable teaching practices and coaching techniques.
    11. Assist in running well-organized practice sessions utilizing staff to maximum potential.
    12. Assist in preparing and implementing a well-organized game plan.
    13. Adhere to and follow sound training principles.
    14. Adhere to a highly efficient and technically sound program of injury prevention and rehabilitation. When injuries occur, follow a prescribed routine and maintain good communications with patient, trainer, doctor, and parents.
    15. Assist in uniform/equipment accountability, including inventory, repair, reconditioning, and replacement.
    16. Complete all paperwork, reports, and other documents required by the lead coach/high school head coach/athletic director(s)/principal.
    17. Establish a dialogue with lead/head coach in regards to maintaining and purchase equipment, uniforms and request facilities repair services when needed.
    18. Attend meetings as required by lead/head coach/athletic director(s)/principal.
    19. Responsible for all other duties designated by the lead coach/high school head coach/athletic director(s)/principal.

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Term of Employment: August - November

    Salary Range: Extra Pay/Extra Duty Schedule

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated at the end of each season
