The School District of Clayton is seeking a student-centered Physical Education/Health Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year at Clayton High School. The District's physical education/health program emphasizes personal development in physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. The health curriculum includes units on tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, relationships and sexuality, mental health, consumer health, and nutrition.

Our district values the ability to work with diverse students and colleagues; success in creating inclusive classrooms; and experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.

The successful candidate:

Establishes course goals, prepares and implements lesson plans, and articulates curriculum at specific developmental level including students with disabilities.

Sets up and organizes class activities, selecting appropriate equipment and pairings of students.

Demonstrates a variety of physical training techniques appropriate for pupils at varying levels of development

Have a strong background in planning and facilitating health classes, the ability to build positive relationships with students, and will have a strong foundation in high school pedagogy

Observes and evaluates pupils' work to determine progress, make suggestions for improvement that supports individual growth, conferring with student, parent, and counselor to resolve student problems

Directs planning, supervision, and coordination of student activities, collaborating with other members of the physical education department on joint district competitions

Performs coaching duties and other responsibilities as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Major or Minor in content area required. Master's Degree preferred.

Certification: Missouri teacher certification in both Physical Education and Health is required for level assigned.

Experience: Preferred.
