POSITION TITLE: Summer School - Dean of Students (1 position)-WEST
REPORTS TO: Building Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Illinois Professional Educators License w/ a General Administrative Endorsement
Three to five years successful teaching experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Administrative Experience
Experience teaching at the secondary level
Evidence of completion of post-graduate level courses in school law, supervision, administration and/or counseling

SCHOOL TERM: Summer 2019
June 10th - July 19th (Monday-Thursday)

SALARY: $5,000.00

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Discipline of studentsContact with principal, assistant principal, counselors, social worker, teachers, police counselor, paraprofessionals, and staff membersContact with parents, guardians, social services agencies and legal authoritiesDue process disciplinary reviews and hearings, and court appearancesOverseeing attendance and tardy policiesMaintain a working knowledge of educational law with emphasis on student discipline and discipline as it relates to special education studentsMentoring of teachers and staff members regarding techniques that may be used to maintain discipline with emphasis on behavior modification and the use of techniques and procedures that do not escalate existing situationsSupervision of students in the cafeteria, at assemblies, dances and extracurricular eventsSupervision of activities off or away from campus.Membership on committees such as: Discipline, SNAP, Crisis Team and Peer MediationOther duties that may be assigned by the Principal or Principal's designee
