Job Summary:
- Perform and supervise the cleaning, repain, and maintenance of assigned buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds in compliance with all safety, health, and District rules and regulations.
- Directly supervises Custodian I positions
- Perform daily custodial duties, including cleaning windows and floors, collecting and dumping trash, etc.
- Inspect, maintain, and operate all mechanical HVAC equipment.
- Inspect grounds and equipment and implement proper repairs.
- Maintain records, including daily maintenance reports, budget reports, supply inventory, and timesheets.
- Establish, monitor, and manage custodial budget for supplies and equipment, including ordering, inventory, and procurement.
- Inspect and repair custodial equipment, including vacuums, buffers, and extractors.
- Open buildings, deactivate alarms, and inspect for vandalism and mechanical system problems.
- Repair and maintain irrigation equipment, including sprinkler heads, lines, and controls.
- Communicate assignments and expectations to assigned employees.
- Remove snow and ice from paved areas.
- Inspect and evaluate the performance of assigned employees.
- Collaborate with Principal, maintenance employees, teachers, and vendors regarding set-ups for extracurricular activities.
- Maintain knowledge and train custodial staff in the operation and location of emergency controls.
- Attends in-service training (e.g. blood born pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
Equipment
- Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and hand tools.
- Use of personal computer.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
- Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
- Must comply with school district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to read labels on containers and materials used in the course of work.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures.
- Knowledge of how to use equipment, and train others in the use of equipment.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over three years experience in custodial and maintenance work, including supervisory experience. Five years of experience preferred
- Valid Colorado driver's license.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- CPR and first-aid certification preferred.
- Criminal background checks and District fingerprinting required.
