POSITION TITLE: Social Studies Teacher - (2019 - 2020 School Year)

NATURE OF POSITION:
Works with students with various academic levels. Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the ability level of the student. Plans a program of learning experiences that will assist in achieving SOL skill development and progression for students in all of the areas of Social Studies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Instructs students in SOL objectives commensurate with curriculum and pacing guides. Works in collaboration with staff and teachers. Maintains accurate and complete records as required. Complies with and enforces school rules and school board policies and procedures. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on committees as appropriate. Performs other school duties and assignments as appointed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with appropriate endorsement.
START DATE: July 23, 2019 (2019 - 2020 School Year)
SALARY / STIPEND: Consistent with the 2019-2020 DPS Teacher Salary Scale, Danville School Board pays the employee cost in full for state-mandated life insurance and in part for state retirement and for health insurance. Benefits include sick and personal leave.
