A Cut Above is an after-school program serving 80 students in their critical, and challenging middle-school years. The program is designed to support students who live or attend school in Harlem and are not students in the HCZ Promise Academy charter schools. The A Cut Above program mission is to cultivate a culture of excellence for our students through personal and social development, community service, academic enrichment, and exposure to the arts. Our goal is to encourage students to exceed expectations and become positive leaders throughout middle school and beyond.

We are seeking a highly motivated and extremely organized Program Coordinator to help design and oversee the operation of the daily program activities. The Program Coordinator provides effective leadership to a team of Arts Specialists and Program Aides and supports all programmatic components in organizational structure development, resource management, and curriculum development. The Program Coordinator is an integral part of the management team and reports to the Director and Assistant Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and provide weekly personal and social development group discussions and activities around subjects such as lifetime decision making, communication and critical thinking, social etiquette, conflict resolution, and community service
  • Create college preparation exposures and help in planning annual college tour
  • Find STEAM, arts and sports enrichment activities that will engage students
  • Familiarize and train staff members on the organization's vision, mission, standards, core strategies and operations
  • Identify and develop specific training on role-specific performance knowledge, skills and attitudes, as well as other strategic training needs as identified through one or more of HCZ's leadership functions
  • Increase management and leadership skills and behaviors of HCZ's management team with the aim to create succession plans for each key leadership role at HCZ
  • Develop teaching and coaching skills of HCZ's managers and leaders to promote staff professional development through regular supervision and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience; Master's degree preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with the principles of adult learning
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to adapt to various audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Strong project management experience ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
  • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity
  • Strong work ethic and impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
  • Familiar with issues prevalent in underserved communities of color
  • Creative background is a plus
