Assesses children's skills and abilities to determine educational need for therapy services

Measures joint range of motion and mobility, muscle strength, and sensorimotor performance

Provides exercises to improve function, flexibility, and strength of muscles

Instructs students in activities to promote safety, coordination and strength while walking, balancing, or stair climbing

Provides assistance to the classroom teacher by demonstration of exercises and activities

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to -

Graduation from an approved school of physical therapy

Must be currently certified in physical therapy and licensed to practice in California

Please note that selected candidates will be assigned based on program needs. Selected candidates are expected to commit to the program for the duration of the assignment. Offer and continuation of employment is dependent upon level of student enrollment and attendance. Notice of employment will be sent to the selected candidates. Qualified personnel from within the district will be considered for placement. Should qualified personnel not be available, the district may accept candidates from outside the district. Per OEA contract Article 23.3.3.3, unit members will not be selected for more than two consecutive years. Should no qualified applicants apply, unit members may serve for more than two consecutive years.
